Reconstruction of the houses destroyed by the earthquake in Thumana

The ruins of tall buildings in Thumana a day after the powerful earthquake struck.

On the morning of November 26, 2019, a strong earthquake was recorded in Albania, which severely damaged the counties of Durrës, Lezha and Tirana.

The earthquake left many dead and injured while destroying many houses and flats.

Deeply affected by this tragedy that happened to the Albanian people, immediately the next day I went to the affected areas to support the people and families affected by the earthquake.

In Thumana with the members of the KSF and the ministers of the Government of Kosovo.

To find you close in these difficult moments for them.

In Thumane I visited the affected communities. I expressed the institutional and private support (in coordination with the relevant authorities there) for the citizens of Thumane and Albania.

This is the most tragic situation in 20 years for the entire Albanian nation and I will stand with them in support. I appreciated the help of the Kosovo soldiers and the firefighters who are giving all of their professionalism.

Among the hundreds of citizens of Durrës who had escaped the earthquake.

I am very proud of the help and solidarity from Kosovo to Albania in the last few hours. Mass solidarity and support shows brotherly bonds.

We must continue and make sure that all affected families will soon have a roof over their heads to return to normal life. This is a national mission now.

In the afternoon, I continued to Durrës, where I visited the area affected by the devastating earthquake.

In an area affected by the earthquake in Durrës together with the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama.

I also met Prime Minister Edi Rama and expressed my condolences to him on behalf of the people of Kosovo for the death of civilians.

I assured him of the institutional support and that of the citizens of Kosovo.

I informed him that we will work closely in institutional capacities to help the community.

Shocked by what I saw and left it behind, on November 28 we decided together with my family (Isa and Ruhan Pacolli's sons) to donate #1million Euros for the reconstruction of the areas affected by the earthquake.

This donation will go to the function of reconstruction and together with the Government of Albania will be managed in a transparent and safe way.

This is the least that my family and I can do for our beloved Albania in those difficult days for them.

My support for our brotherhood will be continuous and I hope they will be back to normal soon.

I also expect to receive hundreds of families here in Pristina in an organized manner.

This is one of the two buildings erected and financed by the "Behgjet Pacolli" Foundation.

After two years, on November 28, 2021, in a grand reception by the residents of the area and the prime minister of the Albanian state, Edi Rama, together with my brothers and the cooperating team, I handed over the keys to the apartments for the families damaged by the earthquake of November 2019 -s.
